When people generally think about Rotary, they tend to shut their brains off and believe the stigma that Rotary is too polished. With that perspective in mind, I went out and asked a few of my peers to see what would entice them to join and how the SWFL Rotary Club could appeal to them. After telling them about the benefits of joining the SWFL Rotary Club and the stark difference between it and other clubs, their reactions were priceless.

SWFL Rotary is centered around their 3 F’s: Fun, Flexible, and For everyone. This club thrives on redefining Rotary by welcoming members intimately, engaging in activities that fuel change, and creating a hybrid environment that caters to members' demanding schedules.

Words from peers

I asked around to my closest friends, colleagues, and family about what they think would help appeal to the younger audience to join SWFL Rotary. This is especially important, not only for the purpose of growing Rotary everywhere but to help elevate and flourish their future careers. For example, I volunteered my time to establish SWFL Rotary, and as a result, I’ve been given the opportunity to support my college career.

I think doing pop-up events around campus would help get the attention of students.

Kaelin is one of my coworkers from my on campus job working at the dining hall. This was her response after I showed her some of the events hosted by SWFL Rotary everywhere via social media.

I think it would be a great opportunity for students, especially kids your age, to use the networking possibilities. It could really help them with starting their careers.”

I know when people on campus host events on the lawn and offer free things, that gets people wanting to join.

Interest of SWFL Rotary Club

After the interviews were conducted, I saw a newfound interest planted within them. A spark, fueled by determination to change and help those in need. With this new hope, more young people will feel welcomed and encouraged to join the SWFL Rotary community. I believe joining this new kind of club helps set people up for success, fun, and growth.

All together

Having the opportunity to ask and inform my peers about the great qualities of SWFL Rotary, and how they might be inclined to help or join, was fueled by a strong desire to help spread the word about a stronger community and service.
